atiqah picks these up herself from the villages around chiang mai, from the people who stitch them. every piece comes home in ones and twos, never a box of the same thing.
from the pieces we are carrying now
cotton and linen, dyed and woven in the north. the weight is why these sit well in our weather.
the embroidery is done by villagers at home, between everything else a day asks of them. it is why a week only gives three to five pieces.
the same design stitched twice still comes out different. thread tension, colour choice, the hand that day.
we do not restock these. we go back, and whatever is finished by then is what comes home with us.
